Dental Practice Manager
The Level 5 Dental Practice Manager role is ideal for Practice Managers who currently oversee the running of a dental practice. This course enables recognition by the Chartered Management Institute and has a Chartered Manager Status, owing to many transferable skills in management.

A significant part of being a Dental Practice Manager involves interacting with colleagues from various internal departments while working in diverse environments, including on-site, at home, or in an office setting. A core part of your role involves leading and managing operations and utilising these skills to manage and plan projects effectively to meet the company's strategic targets. Furthermore, you must be prepared to take responsibility for decisions and operations within the company and actively network externally to maintain and create professional relationships.
Qualifications Required
Apprentices must be working in a practice for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
To enrol on this course, English and Maths requirements differ depending on the learner’s age:
For learners aged 16–18: It is mandatory to either already hold, or be able to work towards and achieve, the required English and Maths qualifications as part of the apprenticeship. These must be completed prior to gateway.
For learners aged 19 and over: It is recommended that applicants hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or an equivalent qualification). If evidence of prior achievement is not available at enrolment, learners may choose to complete these subjects separately through Skills4, with full funding and support provided.
While English and Maths are optional for adult learners to enrol onto this apprenticeship, completing them is strongly advised — particularly for those intending to progress to a higher-level qualification in the future.

Skills Required
A successful Dental Practice Manager requires strong leadership and communication skills to motivate staff, manage teams, empathetically interact with patients, and explain complex policies. The role also demands keen business and financial acumen, including expertise in budgeting, financial analysis, billing, and strategic marketing. Operationally, the manager must excel in organisational and time management, ensure strict regulatory compliance, be proficient with IT and practice software, and possess quick problem-solving abilities along with dental terminology knowledge.

Upon completion, Dental Practice Managers have the opportunity for future progression, which can include:
Recognition - Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr), or Chartered Manager (CMgr)
Senior roles - Operations Manager, Divisional Manager, Regional Manager or Department Manager
Higher Education - This qualification is equivalent to a foundation degree or HND, offering a strong academic foundation for future development.
